President’s Message

Welcome to the Junior League of Charleston, WV!

Taylor Bailey, President

The Junior League of Charleston has a nearly 100-year history dedicated to service to Charleston and the Kanawha Valley community.  I am proud to be a part of this incredible history as the current JLC President.   When I took on this roll, I never imagined it would be in the midst of a global pandemic.  Despite the unique challenges we’ve all faced, the JLC has and will continue to serve our community while valuing our member’s safety.

We continue to strive to help our local students in need through our Backpack Buddies Signature Project.  This past May, our members decided to continue serving our students at Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary School and Grandview Elementary School while adding students from West Side Middle School and giving those students much needed hygiene products in addition to snacks each month.

Our new board plans to usher in a new annual and strategic plan to help us determine our new focus as we approach the completion of our capital campaign to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern West Virginia.

To anyone on the fence about the joining the JLC, I tell you that I’ve met some of my dearest friends and feel a huge sense of accomplishment in the volunteer work I’ve done in the last five years all because I joined the Junior League of Charleston.  To our active members, you all inspire me with your commitment to serve in the face of great adversity and I’m looking forward to a wonderful year.  To our sustainers, thank you for all the wonderful work you’ve done in our almost 100 years and I’m honored to continue your legacy.

I’m excited to kick off this year with all of you because we are #BetterTogether!
