If you are a woman interested in volunteering and looking for an opportunity to improve the community in the Charleston area, the Junior League of Charleston is for you! The League, which formed nearly 100 years ago, has made contributions that have significantly impacted the quality of life for families in the Charleston area, through its various grant programs and countless volunteer hours.

The Junior League of Charleston welcomes a class of new members twice a year, in August and January. The process of joining the Junior League of Charleston begins with the opportunity to attend a casual, open house style gathering to meet league members and find out the many benefits of becoming a member.

Requirements

Provisional Membership

Members of the Junior League of Charleston will tell you that their Provisional Year is one of the best experiences they have had for the friendships they made, what they learned about the community, and the impact they had, and continue to have, on the community. New members bring enthusiasm, energy and a new perspective to the ways in which the League can help.

Provisional members are those members who are preparing to become Active members in the Junior League of Charleston. Each provisional member must complete a mandatory training period before being eligible to become an active voting member of the Junior League of Charleston.

This training program will provide basic information about the Junior League of Charleston mission, goals, organizational structure, community involvement and class projects.

Provisional members must share an interest in volunteerism and a commitment to community service and the means to fund community endeavors.
